I didn't really eat the parsleyI'm really good all the time

Don’t you just love puppies. Toto here is a kelpie border collie cross and hails from a litter of 9 from Grafton in NSW. Her sisters, all seven of them have nearly all found homes and the one brother of the menagerie has already left the fold. Female dogs (bitches) aren’t always prized as much as male dogs on some properties. Certainly over at the main homestead generations of Alexander’s have always run on a male dog only policy. This stems from the unwanted ‘puppy’ syndrome, personal choice and on our property the simple fact that over the years male working dogs have invariably performed better than females. Good working dogs are not only hard to come by, they can also cost a fortune and not always with the guarantee that they will perform to their breeding once you get them home.  Enter Tess, my father’s latest addition and the first female he’s ever had. He refuses to pay $1000 plus for another dog, especially when the last two turned out to be a waste of $. One managed to hang himself in a tree the other was useless. Tess was a freebie.  Big on attitude, headstrong with the playfulness of a young pup, she may well prove us wrong however at the moment she has all the makings of ‘trouble’ despite her good looks. (no pic unfortunately-Im laid up with a bad back). Toto on the other hand at 5 weeks is tough and playful – whether she grows up to be helpful is dependent on training and genetics. One thing is sure however, she will be a lifelong companion.
