With flooding predicted in Dubbo and Coonamble today in NSW and a weather front that reminds me of that George Clooney movie, A Perfect Storm-without the star power (or sea breeze) it’s shaping up to be an interesting Christmas. The eastern seaboard is in for a shocker with a further ten days of rain predicted. Gee, just what we needed. I guess we’ve got over our crop losses now. If we do get any more off-for all you header contractors out there Australia Day 2011 is looking good-apparently the wheat is going to have some type of fungus (as opposed to the fungi mushroom variety) in it and guess what so far noone is putting up their hands to buy it! They tell me ham sales are down at the moment so there goes the theory of selling to a piggery. We had a momentary thought of starting our own, piggery that is. However as it’s something my father ventured into in the sixties as a sideline and we still hear stories from one of our long time crew, David Rose about being chased by sows, mum and I decided against this burgeoning venture, plus sitting around the kitchen table yesterday everyone reminisced about the scene in the wild west series Deadwood where the Chinaman who keeps a sty in said remote township feeds the occassional body to his hungry animals-hmmm, I think it may have been a money lender.
