We’re in the midst of B.A.T.S at the moment. The Boomi Amateur Thespian Society was started over twenty five years ago to raise money for our local community. It’s all about musical theatre here with a sit down dinner & full bar catered/manned by Boomi locals. Our local script writing guru creates a story and then adds some great songs that the cast can get their teeth into. Think ‘Simply Irresistible’ with a female singer and men dressed as women and you’ll get our style. We have a wealth of creative types up here. Some of our members have brillaint voices and can easily ‘do’ a Frank Sinatra routine, others sing over the lyrics. There’s dancing, fabulous costumes and backdrops by local artists which are amazing and heaps of one liners. Our ‘season’ of  ‘Sink the Stimulus’ – yep it’s a pirate show, is running over 5 nights this year (3 weekends) and we have bus loads of people travelling the 200km round trip from Moree and Goondiwindi. Around ten years ago we hired a coach and went on tour into southern Qld with the proceeds going to assist the small communities we visited. Back on the home front the $ raised go to groups such as the primary school, pool complex, preschool and cricket club. It’s a big night catering for 170 people per performance in our Memorial Hall-however people love it!
