Heading north today. Up into QLD along the Gore Highway to Toowoomba. The Garden City has four distinct seasons, beautiful parks and gardens and that great country town (city)  feel that typifys QLD. Am filled with nervous anticipation as this is the beginning of nearly a month long book tour. The drive is marked bya crossing of the dingo fence, stretches of straight road bordered by the red gold blaze of sorghum crops, undulating hills and swathes of grass growing green from recent rains. I see kangaroos, a large goanna and at Milmerran, two emu’s racing haphazardly along a fence line. Forty k’s out of Toowoomba I overtake an old Holden sedan; inside, a driver and on the back seat, a fully grown sheep looking out the window! Inspiration or consternation?
