Last week whilst in Queensland I visited Central Queensland University. It was great to visit my old campus (for the first time!). I gave a talk, you can see highlights on youtube – link below. My visit included a tour of the university which included a fascinating visit to the library where they have an impressive collection of Central QLD archival material. There was also a signing at the campus book store, with trucked in hay bales for some instant scene setting. I also caught up with Professor Whally Woods my tutor for the Master of Letters programme. This post grad degree is delivered via the university’s long distance education programme. I can’t recommend CQU more highly for anyone wishing to pursue further study. Distance is no longer a burden for remote or regional students. The university grounds are sprawling and filled with the tropical greenery one would expect when you are sitting on The Tropic of Capricorn; plus they are only 35 minutes from the coast (Yeppon). Summer Residential School anyone?
